Outplacement services - some success stories

All personal histories are unique. Our task, however, is always the same: to identify potentials, open up opportunities and secure success. Finding the best route to this objective is our strength, and as the path is never the same our experience keeps on growing. Our clients reap the benefits. Below are just four examples taken from 7,000 consultancy projects.

Karl Walter*, 45: venturing into self-employment

The situation: loss of job as marketing/sales manager in a large company. Personal potentials: detailed marketing and sales know-how and a high level of individual initiative. The decision to go it alone crystallised over the course of intensive discussions. In the end, the SKP workshop on Strategy Concepts for Self-Employment tipped the balance. The solution: we explored the viability of various alternatives and helped develop a business model using SKP's 14-step consultancy concept. At the same time, another SKP client and IT specialist was also heading for self-employment and looking for a marketing expert. The two joined forces and launched an IT, multimedia and Internet services company. The results have exceeded expectations.

Dr. Jens Martin*, 48: a fresh start in a new sector

Dr. Martin was general manager of a laboratory for technical ceramics that was taken over by a foreign investor. The result: staff cutbacks. The problem: poor prospects in a rapidly contracting business sector. Personal potentials: in-depth knowledge of fine ceramics and a personality that inspires trust and confidence. The solution: change business sector, from industrial to dental ceramics. Thirty specially selected firms were approached. Two interviews yielded two offers of employment. Today, our client is head of dental technology research at a subsidiary of a well-known German company.

Alfred Kordes*, 42: climbing to the top

After studying business administration and majoring in production theory, Alfred Kordes moved up the career ladder to become personnel manager in the automobile industry. In the course of various restructuring measures, he acquired additional know-how in business organisation, flexitime models and controlling. The problem: his position was becoming "too restricting". Personal potentials: proven leadership competence. The enquiry posted by a human resources consultant on SKP's job board hit the jackpot. The solution: our client accepted a limited-term contract to turn around a manufacturing company and, after hitting the targets, took over as general manager. Our follow-up: intensive coaching during the first six months. The company is back on its feet and moving ahead; the general manager is Alfred Kordes.

Hartwig Neumann*, 58: knowledge bearer

Having worked for over 25 years as head of development in the aviation industry, Hartwig Neumann possessed both technical expertise and a wealth of experience. The problem: he was known and respected among industry experts worldwide but could not identify with the new corporate philosophy. Personal potentials: passionate commitment to technology, particularly in the transport sector, and the ability to lead and motivate younger colleagues. His initial explorations didn't strike gold, for example approaches to international firms in the same sector and plans to launch a career as freelance management consultant. The solution: Hartwig Neumann is today working in the public sector, applying his experience as head of development and innovation in the service of science, business and politics.
